Cardiology Fiesta in San Antonio - Update on Cardiac Diagnostic and Therapeutic Techniques
Program Overview
Cardiology Fiesta San Antonio will provide
the attendee with case focused didactic
presentations that are expanded to real
world case scenarios designed to stimulate
new approaches to daily practice. Debates
focusing upon controversial areas and case
presentations will enhance and illustrate the
state-of-the-art evidence based best clinical
practices. Rapidly evolving technologies and
techniques will also be showcased so that
attendees will anticipate how these techniques
will be applied to their practice.
Target Audience
- Interventional Cardiologists who wish to
learn about new interventional techniques.
- Non Invasive Cardiologists and physicians
who manage patients with complex
cardiovascular conditions.
- Nurse Practitioners, Intensive Care Nurses
and Catheterization Laboratory Personnel
who wish to learn more about patient
selection and management of complex
conditions.
Objectives
Upon completion of this symposium,
participants should be able to:
- Discuss the role of new imaging
methodologies in diagnosing and planning
treatment strategies for valvular heart
disease and atherosclerosis.
- Discuss optimal treatment modalities for
complex coronary lesions.
- Review the new guidelines and emerging
concepts in statin therapy.
- Understand the current indications
and outcomes of carotid artery stents
implantation.
- Identify the roles of transcatheter and
surgical therapies in patients with complex
valvular heart disease.
- Identify interventional techniques for
treatment of atrial fibrillation.
- Describe treatment strategies for the
management of Peripheral Vascular Disease.
- Review the indications for closure of an ASD
and PFO.
Accreditation
The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography
and Interventions is accredited by the
Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical
Education to sponsor continuing medical
education for physicians. This activity has
been planned and implemented in accordance
with the essential areas and policies of the
Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical
Education (ACCME) through the joint
sponsorship of The Society for Cardiovascular
Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) and
The University of Texas Health Science
Center. The SCAI is accredited by the ACCME
to provide continuing medical education for
physicians. The Society for Cardiovascular
Angiography and Interventions designates
this educational activity for a maximum of 18.5
category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician's
Recognition Award. Each physician should
claim only the credit he/she actually spent in
the activity.

of this conference at a special reduced rate of
$130.00 single or $155.00 double occupancy
per night, plus tax. To receive the discounted
room rate, reservations must be confirmed
by Monday, August 4, 2008. After that date,
reservations will be subject to space and
rate availability. Note: This special reduced
conference rate will be honored 3 days prior,
over Labor Day Weekend and 3 days after the
event dates, based upon availability.

Cancellations
A full refund will be given provided that
written notification of your intent to cancel is
received four weeks prior to the opening date
of the program. A processing fee of $75.00
will be charged for all cancellations received
after this date. The cost of the meal
functions will also be deducted from the
refund unless the cancellation is received 48
hours in advance of the program. Fees will
not be refunded for no-shows.
In the unlikely event that the program is
cancelled, The University of Texas Health
Science Center is responsible only for full
refund of the registration fee, and not for
transportation or hotel accommodations.

Continuing Medical Education programs are
