Program Overview
This program provides an update on the state-of-the-art of invasive and
noninvasive
diagnostic techniques, as well as therapeutic techniques. The in-depth reviews
combined with
small focused workshops provide participants with the necessary information to
apply these
techniques in a practice setting. Each attendee is encouraged to bring
interesting cases,
cines, or echocardiograms for discussion and review.
State-of-the-art audiovisual capabilities are new this year and promise to
enhance the
program. The entire program will be video-recorded and a DVD copy of the program
will be
provided to each attendee.

Objectives
Upon completion of this program, attendees should be able to --
- show understanding of the mechanisms of plaque formation;
- show understanding of the role of diabetse in accelerating atherosclerosis;
- assess the role of new pharmacotherapy for treatmentof unstable plaque;
- compare technologies such as OCT and thermography for determining when a
plaque is unstable;
- show understanding of the role of new noninvasive imaging techniques such as
3-d imaging
and electron beam scanning
- reduce the new guidelines for acute coronary syndromes in practice; and
- evalute the impact of peripheral interventional procedures, including carotid
stent
implantation in clinical practice.

The American College of Cardiology Foundation is accredited by the Accreditation
Council
for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for
physicians.

The American College of Cardiology Foundation designates this educational
activity for a
maximum of 18.25 hours in Category I credit towrad the AMA Physician's
Recognition
Award. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he or she
actually spent in the educational activity.
While offering CME credit hours, the program is not intended to provide extensive
training or certification in this field.
Fee
Fee includes continental breakfasts, coffee breaks, lunches, the reception on
Thursday evening, and the syllabus.

Cancellations
Cancellation, substitution, or transfer to another course is allowed if written
cancellation is received
four weeks before a scheduled course. A full refund minus a $100 processing fee
will be
given for written cancellations received fewer than four weeks before the first
day of the
program. No refunds will be given for no-shows. In the unlikely event that the
program is
cancelled, the College will refund the registration fee in full but is not
responsible for
any travel or hotel costs you may incur.
